When you see an orangutan orphaned baby it most certainly means its mother has been killed.
From an article in the Waco Tribune Herald:
Jamartin found himself haunted by what he saw in the eyes of an adult orangutan confined in a cage for some 25 years.
“They trapped me,” he said. “Most people fall in love with a baby’s eyes. It looks like a human’s, which is why some want them as pets. … When I looked in the (adult’s) eyes, I saw a loss of hope, a loss of soul.” Sihite could not escape that look and vowed quietly, “I will work to make you free.”
